The first written record of the village dates back to 1276. Above the village you can find the Church of Saint Peter and Paul founded approximately at the same time as the village; the church was later rebuilt in the Baroque period.

Near the church St.Peter and Paul there is a pottery workshop and accommodation.

Sutom is situated in the Protected Landscape Area of České středohoří (Central Bohemian Mountains) in the part known as 'Milešovské středohoří'.

Castle ruins in the nearby surroundings: Košťálov, dating back to the 1st half of the 13th century, the first mention dates back to 1372 (481.1 m above sea level) Skalka (cylindrical tower - remains of a Gothic castle demolished by the Swedish army, Vlastislav Chateau - exhibition hall, exhibition on the House of Kaplířů - open in summer, the former "Vlastislav" stronghold at the top of the hill above Modla, Ostrý (552.6 m above sea level), Hrádek (Oltářík).

Peaks around Sutom:

Sutom Peak - perched above the village (505 m above sea level) - similar to Boreč, Holý vrch (Holáček - 458 m above sea level) offering some of the best views around. The hills are covered in mixed forests, mostly deciduous. Boreč (National Nature Park + nature trail, earthcache - 449 m above sea level), Milešovka (the highest mountain in České středohoří / Central Bohemian Uplands with a meteorology observatory featuring a 19 m high tower that has been in use since 1905, the windiest place in Bohemia, in German called Donnersberg - 836.6 m above sea level.), Lhota (570.6 m above sea level), Lipská Mountain (686.5 m above sea level), Hradišťany (remains of an ancient Slavic stronghold, the 2nd highest mountain of České středohoří / Central Bohemia Uplands - 751.6 m above sea level).
